Dr. Catherine Kibirige

Senior Research Scientist | Guest Lecturer and Speaker | Scientific Writer | Biomedical Innovator and Consultant at Imperial College London

Born and raised in Kenya, of Ugandan heritage, Dr. Kibirige was interested in HIV research from a young age after witnessing the devastation it cause on her family`s homeland right after a civil war.  

Masters of Biochemistry from the University of Bath, UK.

PhD in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, USA. 

Dr. Catherine Namugga Kibirige is a highly experienced HIV-1 researcher with over 20 years of involvement in clinical research supporting epidemiological cohort studies.

Dr. Kibirige’s expertise lies in the development of molecular tools for HIV research, diagnosis and surveillance. Her passion for advancing HIV research and treatment monitoring has led her to establish the innovative HIVQuant® Project.

HIVQuant® aims to revolutionize HIV-1 research and treatment monitoring through adaptable and accessible quantitative kits. Driven by her dedication to improving healthcare in Africa, Dr. Kibirige collaborates with scientists and commercialization experts to develop cost-efficient, easy-to-use, field-tested solutions.
